Dwayne Wade...

2006-06-24 08:35:29 · answer #1 · answered by ca_license_pl8t 2 · 0 1

I guess Dwayne Wade is better because the last time I checked, if you win an NBA championship for your team (which Wade did), you're the best until someone takes your spot. But skill-wise, Kobe is far more superior. Let's analyze. In another post, someone said that Kobe should pass the ball more in order to be a better player. Imagine you are Kobe, skillfully knifing through the lane with a myriad of crossover moves when suddenly, a defender comes rushing between you and the basket with hopes of some sort of stoppage. You look to your left and see Luke Walton asking the for the ball so he can fumble it. Then you look to your right and see Brian Cook asking for the ball so he can fumble it. What would you do if you knew you were the best offensive player in the game today? Hell no. I'd rather have Kobe take 50 shots a game (20 more than the reasonable average) than divide the surplus 20 attempts between Luke Walton, Brian Cook and the other Laker scrubs. Dwayne Wade is good but Kobe beats him by a mile with his DEFENSE and SHOOTING RANGE. The Miami heat have a whole roster full of quality players (which they call "15 strong"), Kobe has a bench full of wannabes (which should be called cap eaters). The only legit ballers on the Lakers squad are Lamar Odom and Kobe Bryant. The rest are scrubs. Yet they made it to the playoffs (which they shouldn't have if not for Kobe's remarkable season), and they led the Suns 3-1 in the first round because Kobe became a playmaker (they blew the lead because Kobe's teammates suddenly couldn't make any shots).. So Kobe vs Dwayne Wade should be clear. Put Dwayne Wade on the Lakers and they would be lottery bound.

Kobe is much better. Dwade is coming on and has a ton of energy. He made all the difference in the finals. Kobe, on the other hand, has done it all, plays well when all of the pressure is on him and has little or no supporting cast. Dwade may reach that level someday but isn't there yet.

Let's look at this alright? Kobe has been All NBA Defensive Squad many times including this year. Heres the reason...he held Wade to less then 20 points in one of their meetings while Kobe shot a good percentage and had plenty of points. So Kobe is automatically the better defender. Wade has Shaq and feeds off of that by getting many one on one coverages. If Shaq wasn't there, then Wade would have to endure double and triple teams just like how Kobe and LeBron do. Next, Wade is a streaky shooter, hats off to his performance in the Finals, but in the season he can have a good or normal day, then the next he is completely off. And mind you, Kobe passed in 6 of the 7 games of the playoffs, and in 5 and 7, his team just failed him by not makin the open shots. Kobe is the better all around player, better defensively, better offensively. People say Wade can give you everything on the offense? So can Kobe. Kobe is good at finishing drives, can shoot easily from midrange whether it's a fade away or a pop up jumper. Kobe is also good with the 3 where he can simply shoot from long long distance or dribble stop and pop. Kobe is better right now.

Dwade off top. He made it and won the finals in his first year as a rookie. When shaq left the lakers,Kobe did his thing but he started to go down hill.

Kobe Bryant

Allright, lol, a lot of people are asking this question now that Dwayne has "proven" himself on the Finals level against Dallas, so let me break it down to you.

Kobe Bryant is the better all around player, period. Dwayne might surpass him ONE day but that one day will not be anytime soon. Kobe first off has 3 rings, Dwayne only has 1, true he's only 24 and Kobe had a Shaquille in his prime and stuff, but not till Dwayne wins at least 3 (with or without Shaquille) can you put them in the same area since a great player wins championships, no matter with who or how, he wins them.

Secondly, Dwayne disappears too much. Meaning, he is not consistent THROUGHOUT a whole game. If you have watched him THROUGHOUT the 2005-2006 season and postseason you would have noticed that he seems to disappear in long periods of time throughout games nad then magically reappear late in the game. Though it shows that he is clutch and is not afraid to take big shots by showing up (and showing up big) in the 4th, he has to be more consistent throughout a game. A lot of times I'll see him have a blazing first quarter, disappear for the 2nd and half of the 3rd and then turn it on again. Consistency is huge in order to be the best or greater than another, and until he accomplishes that, he will not be better than Kobe.

Thirdly, he is half the defender Kobe Bryant is. Though Dwayne might have more steals or blocks or whatever, that is a HUGE understatement on his defense. Being able to play team defense and man on man defense are two gigantically different things. He is a good team defender, since hes usually not guarding the other teams top option (or even #2 or #3 option) he has the freedom to roam around and go make plays, which is he good at. He can pick the passing lanes and he CAN afford to leave his man to go help double another. This makes his stats look nice and helps his team, but he cannot guard a man one on one to save his teams life. Kobe can. Kobe has countlessly shown us that in the clutch or whenever throughout a game, he can guard the other teams #1 option (ex: both Miami-LA games this year) and shut them down or contain them better than Wade or most others can. He usually doesnt guard the #1 option like Wade because he is the Lakers #1 offensive option and they do not want him getting worn down defensively and not be able to produce offensively. But if you look at the Lakers games this year, in clutch times late in games where the other team depends on their guy, Kobe contains them. Lakers vs. Cavs in Los Angeles late in the season, I remember this game very well. 4 minutes left and Coach Jackson decides to put Kobe on LeBron and what happens to LeBron? It was like a magic trick, he disappeared. He went 1 for 5 including one turnover and no free throws attempted. Kobe locked him up, he made sure he wasn't able to attack the basket and get to the line and he put enough pressure on him to make sure he did not get an open look. Kobe on the other hand exploded for 12 points in the final 4-5 minutes including 3 straight fadaway jumpshots at the end of the game to put the Lakers up 1 and get the Win (all of which were over LeBron). Thats what a SOLID defender is supposed to do, Dwayne has never done that against another teams #1 option and thus has yet to prove that he is a solid man on man defender.

wade and heres why: though he may have shaq on his team, when shaq is injured or tired, dwade always steps his game up and makes like every shot
bryant is good, but he needs to pass more (there was 1 game in the playoffs where kobe passed and the lakers did better)

dwade. kobe is probably thee most over-rated player in any sport that i have ever seen, and comparing him to mj is a bit of an insult. compare kobe to dominique wilkins if you need to compare at all. and as far as other players go, nobody seems to like or respect kobe. i was a laker fan for many years untill that rip-taylor-look-alike owner they have decided kobe was their future. dwade is more intellegent, just as athletic, and is far more commited to team play, therefore there is no real comparison.
