I just notice that in American teen movies, teens can already be considered growm ups if they were living in our country. But when you see an asian film, teens are like kids

Just curious.....

I guess I need to revise my question... more matured is the right term, rather than older

This is because a lot of times they hire 30 year olds to play the roles of teenagers! In real life American teens look like kids.

I guess the social "look" of gaining age, or looking more mature in our culture, is facial hair. Obviously the asian culture tends to grow facial hair manys years after our norm of "puberty", so of course even the grown men will look "super-young".

Hooywood uses adults to play teens in their movies. Thats why they look older. in reality, a teen looks like a teen, no matter what race they are.

Yes. I'm Asian, and when I was 18, my neighbor thought I was 14. He was a great guy, but he was a retiree...so maybe he couldn't see too well?

Of course, this will become a good thing when I'm 35. :)

mochasister is right; teens in america play kids 10-12yrs old; adults play teens. in the movie Grease (i know it's old but it makes my point) Stockard Channing who plays Rizo was 30yrs when she made that movie but played a High School Senior.
