Sorta, but not easily. Turtle eggs look a lot alike, so the embryo and situation would be looked at.

In most of the US, the odds are it was a Painted turtle site, especially if it was near water.

Call you local zoo, or a local zoo. They will have a professional working there who will be able to answer you. Several years ago, a friend had animals that the chicago zoo allowed her to raise. So the zoo people have connections.

Call the wildlife rehabilitators in your area. A veterinarian will have the number. They can probably tell you.
