It's been a while since I have been to Mexico but I can tell you that gasoline is usually more expensive than it is in the U.S.

Actually, it's probably cheaper down there now. I was in San Luis Potosi a few months ago and it cost me about $2.30 a gallon where I was paying $2.75 here in the US at the time. Same situation in China.
