Yes the sad fact is that there are over a million homeless in this country. If you want more startling facts look at how the Katrina victims are still homeless and without everyday needs. Companies today treat people like collateral that can be done away with.

Yes. Not nearly as big of a problem here in the States as is it else where in the world. And the rate of extremely poor people (people without means to provide shelter and/or food) has decreased greatly since the 1970's.
With all that said, the United States has the highest rate of comparatively poor people (people below the "poverty line") than any other of the world's richest nations as defined by the World Bank per capita.
So absolute poverty in the U.S. is fairly rare. Comparative poverty is much higher than what it is in similiarly well off countries.

regrettably, definite there are. the place I stay we've an extremely super homeless inhabitants as nicely. My Kindred (like a church team for Nordic/Germanic Heathens) and the community Catholic diocese are very actively supporting the homeless and intensely detrimental in our city. it rather is not an easy job in any respect, incredibly seeing that maximum folk right here seem to think of they are all lazy, drug addicts or drunks, whilst that would no longer be extra from the reality. in the event that they had circulate out and help out themselves and get to appreciate those human beings, they had understand that become no longer real and alter their approach. It particularly can ensue to all people below the appropriate (or incorrect) circumstances and each so often it does.

Yes. The states is recognised as having the highest proportion of destitute people outside of the third world and in many cases even in the third world countries.

In such a large and rich country as America it must be even harder for those effected.

Yes, the USA does have extremely poor people. Sad to say and even harder to understand, but even as wealthy and civilized as we claim to be, there are still children that go to bed hungry every night. The government, federal, state, and local, have programs to help but not everyone's needs are met. One of the most beautiful things about America are the number of volunteers we have. These people work with the government, churchs, schools and other social outreach programs to help those in need. The USA not only tries to help its own citizens but also sends relief to other countries.

They are not all crackheads. The US has a large amount of homeless people here. Not of all of them are beggars though. Some of them work and go to school but literally have no home.

Its a symptom of the growing gap between classes as the middle class becomes more and more disposable.

Of course. We can't be perfect. The only way to assure that there's no homelessness would to take away our rights and freedoms and treat us like cattle like the way they do in communist and socialist societies. Keep in mind that Americas poor are the most privledged poor in the world. Studies show that the vast majority of people on welfare ( government aid ) have air-conditioning, color television, cars etc. Nobody starves to death in the U.S.

Hell yes! And many of them are Veterans who protected our country in useless wars. The next time a person asks for help, give him a hand up, but not a handout. Get involved, people!
