Hello I’m a 34 year old male. I have a good head of hair apart from a small bald spot at the back of my head. Help what’s wrong with me?

It may be true that your going bald. No matter what you think, it's not that bad!!

I started to loose my hair at the age of 20 and went through 10 years of pure hell trying to cover it up as my hair receeded and started to thin out. I tried all sorts of styles and silly massage excercises before I finally discovered that this is a natural process that you can't avoid no matter what.

It is a total confidence taker and can really start to damage your ego until you realise that anyone who likes you is interested in you for who you are not the fact you have hair. I know people say it's the person inside that counts etc. etc but to a certain extent this can be crap. People will look at you differently, you will notice a change in your friends but the real test is how gracefully you face the situation.

If you go for the Charlton comb over then you will most certainly never have sex again, if, on the other hand you face the problem head on you will gain self respect along with the respect of others - because how you are percieved by others is a mirror of how you percieve yourself.

Shave your head! Do it for charity if you need an excuse! Get your mates to do it as well and raise loads of money for a good cause. After the shaving, let your mates know that you quite like shaved / cropped hair and all the benifits (no shampooing / styling / hairdressers / gel / wax etc.) and think you'll stick with the style.

This will make hair much less of a part of our image and as it does thin and recede the effect will be so much less noticable that you and your friends will probably not notice it's going!

Act now while you still have your confidence and esteem - take action and you can avoid all the torture of going slowly bald - avoiding going out on windy days, not going swimming, hours in front of the mirror making the most of whats left. I did all this and it was hell. I shaved my head and never looked back! It's cleaner, easier to look after, you save a fortune on styling / hairdressers and ladies love to give it a rub!

Good luck!

Nothing, you should see me and im 25. Welcome to male pattern baldness. We have nothing to blame but testosterone. But there is medication that blocks DHT, the testosterone related hormone responsible for hairloss and prostate problems. Only if really concerned.
