My brother is scared of millipedes, what should i tell him?

Millipedes don't do a darn thing to humans. They would actually prefer to be left alone. But they do make facinating pets. Your brother has nothing to fear from them! When they are in the mood(they are extremely curious) they will climb around on you gathering smells and just enjoying themselves. I've kept milipedes for several years and have never been bit or injured by them. They don't sting, like centipedes (to tell the difference b/t the two: centipedes have one pair of legs per segment and millipedes have two and centipedes have a double-pronged stinger on their tail. Millipedes don't have a stinger.) nor do they bite. They just like to eat, sleep, wander and groom. They're kind of like the cats of the invertebrate world. ;) And, btw, most millipedes only have about 300-400 legs. The milli is actually a misnomer. Your local pet store might have some that your brother can hold so he can see how harmless they are. If you have any other milli questions, feel free to message me. Cheers!

millipedes produce irritating liquid - will stain your fingers, can cause rash, and definitely can harm eyes
to be distinguished from centipedes - the giant centipedes are very fast fierce and bite alot if not careful
centipedes are flat and run fast. milipedes are like sausage with zillion leggs and move slowly. both milipdes and centipedes can be very large (in warm countries) as well as quite small. the small types of either are quite harmless

Have you ever seen Tremors... I think that is what it is called , its a movie from the early 90s. let your brother watch that.... THAT IS WHAT A MILLIPEDE CAN DO TO A HUMAN!!!

nothing these are harmless,but the reddish orange centipedes have a very nasty bite that can be painful for days..

i don't know but i heard that they do harm to humans somehow
