What's stopping anti-virus companies like Norton of McAfee from writing computer viruses that their computer can solve?

First of all they have their hands full discovering solutions to the hundreds of new viruses people write everyday. Second if it was discovered that they wrote viruses for their own self promotion the lawsuits that follow would put them out of business.

The one thing would be"if they got caught" it would be the end of the company.

They could do a lot more on making sure viruses weren't spread it does seem strange ,,their lack of effort does probably does have a reason though..

Search engines could do a whole lot more keeping viruses away from people ,,but they love money..
