There is no McDonald's in Santorini. There is a Goody's place which is like Mc's but considered better than them. Anyway, there is one gyro place on the main square of Fira (good portion for E2.9 ) and 2 around the sq. (Poldo & Lakis) Tavernas: Nicola's, Very popular, decent & inexpensive food. Naoussa: same as above (slightly more expensive). Koukoumavlos (fancy , expensive but excellent). Archipelagos: same as Koukoumavlos but slightly less exp. (All in Fira). OIA VILLAGE: Petros taverna (good, moderate), 1800, fancy, expensive, very good. if you like fresh fish & sea food go to Amoudi. It's a fishing port, with 4-5 tavernas. Fish there is expensive but fresh and considered fair. FIROSTEFANI village: Akteon: very nice traditional little restaurant. Moderate priced. Il Cantuccio: if you like Italian. Some of the above are always busy so you may ask the reception to make reservations ffor you. Hotel reception personel could also recommend places. Hotels are usually small units and people working there are are allways eager to give info & tips. If you are on a budget you could either eat gyros or go to tavernas and get a Greek salad & french fries or sth like that.Having said all that if I was planning a romantic dinner I would propably choose Koukoumavlos or Archipelagos.

Selene is a very nice restaurant in Fira. Some consider it the nicest restaurant on the island. It has been recommended in Frommer's Guide, Fodor's Guide, Bon Appetit magazine, the NY Times, etc.
I ate there about a month ago. Dinner for two, with a bottle of wine, dessert, dessert wine and coffee was about 120 euro. It was worth it. The staff is very nice and speak English.
You should have a reservation, especially if you are going in high season.
Their website is www.selene.gr

McDonalds is the safest. You don't want to get "greek revenge" from eating the local food. And avoid the local water as well.

Go to Oia and walk down the millions of stairs to the harbour. It is worth it. There is a family run restaurant down there with the freshest seafood you will find.
