If you are talking about getting one through a cell phone company they are usually pretty good.I work for Sprint and I am pretty sure other carrirers are the same way. All the aircards we are selling now are evdo speeds...which is going to give you speeds similar to a broadband connection. If you are a new customer you can get the card itself for about $50 but then monthly you will prolly pay about $50 a month for unlimited access. That is just with Sprint, other carriers may be different. The only thing you want to make sure of if you do this is that you are in an area that supports the evdo (broadband) speeds...otherwise you are going to have speeds similar to a dial-up connection. As far as them being satisfactory like i said if you are in a coverage area you should be good but it works like a cell phone...like getting dropped calls on your cell phone you may lose the internet connection on your laptop all of a sudden.

Depends on if you get a GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, or a UMTS HSDPA card. They go from slowest to fastest in that order.

They can be very expensive though, for unlimited access it's typically between 50 and 80 dollars per month. If you have good reception, and you have a fast card (UMTS/HSDPA is only been deployed by Cingular, and only in some markets, but EDGE is available everywhere and by any GSM carrier). It's a lot more convenient and flexible than wifi, but not as fast.

They work pretty much like the laptop came with wireless. Now, I don't know if you are talking about WiFi cards or cellular data cards. If you are talking about WiFi cards you can get either PCMCIA or USB WiFi adapters, I prefer PCMCIA because they are less obtrusive but they are also more expensive. But the fact is ALL new laptops come with built-in wireless but if you are looking to get one for an old laptop that's fine, here's one for $20, http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1272635&CatId=0

If you meant a cellular data service, you will have to talk to a carrier like Verizon or Cingular about that. Sprint also offers that service.

convinced, I easily have used Motorola telephone techniques with diverse motorola telephone fashions and it extremely works effective. My latest moto telephone, with bluetooth, alongside with my laptop also with bluetooth helps me to wirelessly "tether" the phone to the laptop, using bluetooth, and then get admission to the web through the phone to the cellular community. it extremely works on at even if p.c. your cellular telephone can get admission to the web. i have finished it with side community, and with 3-G. it really is totally accessible. study "tethering" to confirm extra.
