Does anyone know of a neat website that could teach me calculus in the "Idiots guide" kinda way?

I am having real trouble getting my head around it.

Thanks.

I'm afraid I don't have a web site for you off the top of my head, but I would offer this (probably controversial) advice: try to learn calculus from a physicist instead of a mathematician. Physics has many great applications for calculus (Newton invented it to do some physics, after all) and I think it is easier to learn based upon the applications.

Mathematicians fuss too much about subtleties right away and I think they get in the way of the basic ideas of derivatives beng rates of change and integrals as ways of simply adding things up.

I suppose you are taking an introductory Calculus course. If you have fallen behind or are having trouble grasping the current topics, get help from your teacher. Also, the best and most efficient way to learn math, I feel, is to practice it everyday. Perhaps your teacher assigns nightly homework. If he or she gives you enough, then great - complete the entire assignment. If you feel he or she does not assign enough, do some extra problems. The more practice and review the better.

Good luck with your studies!

There is a book called "Calculus for Dummies".
(I am not trying to be insulting, just helpful - you asked for a book, and the "Dummies" line of books is good in general).
You can find it on Amazon at
