The first song can be 1 of 4 different songs (Rock songs), there you have 4 choices. The last song can be 1 of 2 different songs (Pop songs). So you totally now have 4 * 2 = 8 choices. Then you have 10 songs left, and you can play them in which order you'd like, that's 10! different permutations for the songs in the middle, totaling in 2 * 4 * 10! = 29,030,400 different choices.

29,030,400

Pick the rock song first--you have four choices.
Next pick the pop song to play last--you have two choices.
For everything else in between, you have 10! possibilities.
So 4 x 2 x 10! = 29,030,400

make 12 lines on paper. first space has 4 choices, the rock songs. second, 3, then 2, then 1. The last spot has 1 choice. In between, it's 6x5x4x3x2x1. The whole thing looks like: 4x3x2x1x6x5x4x3x2x1x2x1, which yields 34560.
