I know there is research to support the following:

-- Your brain will not be able to form memories as well as it should. This means your memory will suffer (both long and short term).

-- You will develop ADHD symptoms: Inability to focus or concentrate.

-- You are at risk for developing or aggravating a mood disorder like depression.

-- You can develop stress-related illnesses like skin rashes or irritable bowel syndrome.

-- You will gain weight: When sleep deprived you will crave fattier foods, eat more of them, and your body will put fat on your body more quickly.

-- Your hormore levels will be adversely affected: For men and women this means sexual disfunction among other problems.

Have fun!

You will feel down and wont feel very good. You may get a headache. Also during the day, you will want to go to bed and sleep. You will feel more stress because you cant think right. If you keep not getting enough sleep, you will become very grumpy and you could lose your friends if they cant stand you being grumpy.

"Importance of sleep

Sleep is essential for a person’s health and wellbeing, according to the National Sleep Foundation (NSF). Yet millions of people do not get enough sleep and many suffer from lack of sleep. For example, surveys conducted by the NSF (1999-2004) reveal that at least 40 million Americans suffer from over 70 different sleep disorders and 60 percent of adults report having sleep problems a few nights a week or more. Most of those with these problems go undiagnosed and untreated. In addition, more than 40 percent of adults experience daytime sleepiness severe enough to interfere with their daily activities at least a few days each month - with 20 percent reporting problem sleepiness a few days a week or more. Furthermore, 69 percent of children experience one or more sleep problems a few nights or more during a week."

Interesting - because I have been there. Here is what I experienced:
1 - At first, it was because of nightclubbing & dancing, so it was great - but I only did it for one day, once in awhile.
2 - If I went without enough sleep for a longer time, then I started feeling grouchy.
3 - When I worked 2 jobs & was going to school, & really went without much sleep, it got scary. When I was drivng, I thought I was seeing a car alongside me, but when I turned my head to look, there was NO car there!
4 - When I really went without sleep - mostly because of worry, I started to feel sad.

Sleep isn't for the physical body, it's for the mind to rest. You start to hallcinate and have fits of parania. The amount of time this takes is based on mental capacity. The side effects of these are increased irrability, loss of motor skills, slow reflexes to name a few.
