I read this story about 10 years ago. It ends with the protagonist on a bus or subway contemplating where he goes from the point of coming out to himself.

That is an interesting and profound answer, Doc. I'm sure I'll never forget it. It's DEFINITELY something to think about.

No, I couldn't find such a story.

The story would have had to been written by someone who does not understand or agree with the LDS point of view on homosexuality. One cannot acknowledge that he has something or is something that he is not. A person is not born a homosexual. He may be born with a same-sex attraction, but homosexual behavior is a learned response. It is a behavior, and a sin. One does not come out to one's self, one gives in to temptations. One becomes confused as to who he really is and assumes that he is a homosexual. It is never a truth one learns when he thinks he is a homosexual, it is a lie that he begins to believe.

That's a tough one. I was trying to do a search on Amazon, and it seemed for a while that it might be a story by O'Henry, but I can't get the search to work for me. Was it "The Furnished Room"?
