Anyone that thinks they're not spied on is a fool. We may not be spied on specifically by the government, but we are always spied on by somebody that feels they need to know. Whether it's the government or our neighbors is the same thing I think.

I think it's sad they have to, though. It basically violates every aspect of our freedom, 'alleged freedom' I should say. I don't mind giving up a little freedom if it protects my basic freedoms, though. For example, I don't mind the government monitoring my phone if they think someone I talk to might be a terrorist. I would help them catch them if I thought I could.

It's also a sad fact that everyone has something to hide. We all have our secrets, although they may be trivial to us, it may seem monumental to others.

How many of us can honestly say we have never stolen anything, or never damaged someone elses property, or never complained about governmental rules, or never desired to attack someone violently or desired to kill them. I think few can say honestly they haven't.

If you don't want your emails monitored, scramble them. The right to privacy and freedom of speech amendments were written into the constitution to protect us from the government, not each other. That's the entire purpose of the constitution. The government only has a right to do what we say they can do. I think what has happened over the decades is that people are too scared to say anything, nevermind actually take action. The government has gotten so out of control only multitudes of people could effect any changes in it. And these days it's hard to get 3 people in the same room to agree on something.

OK! When you think of the number of people in the UK (for instance), some 60 million or so! Would it take 60 million people to spy on 60 million people full time???? Does this mean there are 120 million people? And who spies on the spiers????

If you are not doing anything wrong and have not come to the attention of the government or law enforcement, are they really going to waste money spying on you?????????

Anyway, who is watching me while I sleep? I want to know if I snore?

How many emails do you send while you're asleep? Perhaps you bear watching.....

I think there needs to be a showing of cause to an independant judge. Our civil liberties are who we are. However, I think there may be sufficient cause for reasonable monitoring. The judge would need to say what is reasonable as with any warrant, if I ruled the world.

most definitely....but who gives a rats butt. If you have nothing to hide , there's nothing to find. So if Big Bro wants to look at all it's ants under a magnifying glass, only the ants in the wrong place doing the wrong things will get burned. Tip for Big Brother .....Don't look directly into the sun. Remember it's a PRIVILEGE to live in America not a RIGHT.

They watch you all the time.
Recording your car number plate on the road,
Following credit card deals.
Photograph you on the street
With your oyster card which has your details on it they follow every bus, train ride, date and time

With emails they look for key words like Bush and Bomb - just a moment the police are at my door

Yes - and it bothers me that so many people don't care about such governmental abuse - If you are one of those people, stop and think about the issues, what if a less (!) responsible government came to power, what if the National Front or Communist or Monster Raving Loney partys ever gained power?

Those who would surrender their freedom without protest deserve everything that comes to them!

Well, I don't know or much care either way. I have nothing to hide, unlike those liberal communists who get rattled every time the government fulfill's it's obligation to it's citizenship. Bring back McCarthyism!!!

It is inevitable that this would happen in this day of terrorists and extremists. Unless you are a terrorist or something like that you shouldn't have anything to worry about. I Don't like it nor do I agree with it, but who could stop it?
