I agree...too explicit for young children. A great deal of the jokes would be way over their head, but there's a lot they would pick up on that they probably shouldn't.
Having said that, it's an adult show, made by adults for adults. And frankly, I think it's quite funny!

I do and that would be why it's rated 14 or whatever it is. Because that's the age they think you're finally old enough to watch it at. What's your point? Spongebob is rated Y for youth, meaning it's for kids, but family guy isn't. It's not on Nickelodeon or Nick Jr for that reason... not a kids show, not made for kids.

I don't think in any way it's too explicit because the wilder subject matter would fly over the head of most kids. It's certainly not PBS however.
I would think it's wise to not have children watch it, but each family needs to make their own decision on what their children do and do not watch.

I am 12 and I started watching Family Guy when I was, I think 10. Maybe 11. My dad does not know I atch it, and he would not like me watching it. My mom on the other hand, watches it with me most of the time. She thinks it is funny, but is suited for people a little older than me.

Family guy is the funniest show on television. If I were a parent, i would only let my kids watch the funny parts and not the explicit parts. If your not watching family guy already, GET TO IT! If you get it, you'll laugh your *** off. Great for adults.

Isn't it rated TV-MA? I thought they started the whole TV ratings system so that uninformed people too lazy to educate themselves would have a quick reference guide.
Yes, it's inappropriate for young children, and that's why parents shouldn't let them watch it. Children shouldn't understand most of the jokes, anyway; and if they do, it's not Seth McFarlane's fault.

I guess I'll have to speak up for common sense and reason. Censorship is wrong! Period. It's a cartoon for heaven's sake. What kids don't understand will obviously go right over their heads so expose them to anything and everything created by man. That's how they learn. Education is the key.People often confuse education with morality. If they don't see what is wrong how will they ever know the difference between right and wrong? Teach them your morals and fear not what they witness.

I really think that the best thing you can do to ensure that your children have a healthy childhood is to expose them to everything (at an appropriate age) and be there with them to talk with them about it and answer any questions as openly as possible. My goodness, I think that in America we have proven time and again that suppressing material and ideals from our children does not protect them from said things. If anything, we open them up to exploration of these things at a later age because of the curiosity we planted in them at an early age by hiding things from them.

i don't even watch it actually, we have friends and family that think its is so funny and also south park, Simpson's, adult swim on the cartoon network
there are some cartoons that are intended for children that i don't let mine watch
alot of cartoons use words like idiot and stupid and they are disrespectful to others including the adult on the show
i don't agree with it at all, and to those that watch it that are adults, well then that's fine, I'm am not into wasting my time watching something that useless
