maybe you just aren't the type. perhaps you don't look like a villain, or don't have the right voice.
i'm sure there's a villain out there somewhere who would fit you just fine, but those shows may not have been the right place for you.
casting decisions are often unexplainable. directors' minds work in strange ways, but it often turns out alright.
practice playing the villain on your own, with monologues or scenes, and work up a cool character that you can adapt for auditions. your time will come.

Maybe you tried to play the villain like a villain. Try playing him like the hero and let the text take care of the rest. No one is a villain in their own mind. Each of us is the hero of our own story, no matter what we do.

Now, can you tell me why I never get cast as the hero?

What are the characteristics that they are looking for in a villain? You must not have those qualities evident.
Ask the casting people that you know what those qualities are and then work to gain, or fine tune them in yourself.
This is assuming that you want to play a villain?

It's called type-casting. Most directors swear they hate it, but I think sometimes it's impossible not to type-cast a character. I had a tendency to be cast as a child in my high school productions because I was "sweet and innocent looking". It happens all the time. If you think about it, there are many film actors who practically play the role in every movie they're in.

Skills aren't everything.
You have to have the right look and personality to match to come across as being convincing!

You are meant to play good people, so don't feel bad that you are not the villian, be a good guy, play him well and learn from the experience!
