Turtles do not leave their shells like in the cartoons.I have seen sliders get so fat that it can't hide all it's legs and head. If this is the case follow proper feeding guidelines.

This cannot happen in normal situations, so something is very wrong. Normally I advise people to review the cares and diet they use and fix that before going to the vet.

In this case, however, even if it is fiXed, it will take a while for the turtle to get better, so I suggest seeing the vet!

Their shells grow with them. If the shell isn't growing there is probably a nutritional problem. Or it's not getting enough UVB light. http://www.anapsid.org/reslider.html Check out that care sheet and make sure you're doing everything it says.
