No not at all...Hopefully, the billions that are spent in Iraq will have a positive benefit for all Americans. I've always felt bad that not just billions....but TRILLIONS of taxpayer monies have been spent on those very educational and social services you mention, and yet, not one blessed benifit can I point to that has made a whit of difference in the daily lives of any one individual.
People have fled their homelands??? to Come to THIS country for a better life?? Seems we did the very same thing awhile back. Its a shame that the public education system that we have now is unable or unwilling to teach something called the "American Revolution". Whats the deal? Were we the only ones in the world with enough heart and soul to throw off the oppresive government of England? Are you saying that. "Well, these poor people cant do anything about their own country, so we have to let them in ours?
What about the kind of people that come into our country? You do realise that there are people out there that want to hurt us? Maybe even destroy us and our way of life? Thats why there is a system to allow some people into the country. People who when they get here are willing to work hard in whatever field of service that the system deems a positive addition to the United States population. Sure, the process takes many years and is very expensive, howver, its the right way to do it. All these poor people that come to the United States illegally, become a burden on our social safety net systems, without contributing one dime to them. Now THAT my friend.... is just plain wrong!

There's still a right way and a wrong way to enter this country. This isn't just a Bush problem but one that's been ignored for a number of years. However, Bush cried during the Clinton administration that the federal govt. wasn't doing enough to protect our borders. After 9-11 I don't see thaat a lot has changed. Our borders are more porous than ever and he has not even come close to brining in the number of border patrol agents that promised he would.
To answer your question, this administration is wrong to cut education and social services while dumping money into Iraq like garbage into a landfill. Money being wasted, and unaccounted for, in the name of "the war on terror" (by the way, did congress ever actually issue a declaration of war?) while letting our school system, among other programs dry up and die is inexcusable.

Your initial question is a good question. Is it wrong to cut spending on welfare (call it social services if you like, but it's still welfare) and education (more like indoctrination) while dumping xxx billions into Iraq.
No, it's not. It's never wrong to cut welfare spending. I think welfare should be cut right out of existense.
The money spent in Iraq will be returned to us in the form of having a new ally in the middle east (we hope).
The money spent on government education nets us nothing. Public education in this country isn't worth diddly. By the time a student graduates from high school, the only thing they have learn is how to pass an S.O.L. test. Throwing money at that won't fix it.

yes, because he needs to look at the children of the U.S. first, If he wants to help out that much of the Country then why doesn't he just stay over there. There's homeless and hungry adults and children, here and for the young child that tax payers paid to fly over from Iraq and do the surgery that was wrong there's so many parents that have insurance and yet they can not afford the costs of a child in the same situation, the president worries more about the other countries and not his home country, so yes it was and is wrong,

Ofcourse it is but that's what this Congress does , take from the needy and give to the wealthy . They don't want to look at all the corruption going on with this invasion in Iraq . Someone is filling their pockets and it's not the American People because it's coming out of theirs .
You are talking about two different things here .
The illegal immigration on the border is a whole other issue . Those people need to stay in their homeland and protest to their government about what is happening to them , not come here breaking our laws and sponging off of us

Bush wants open borders on immigration with just screening for undesirables. You are totally mistaken.
I disagree with his position BECAUSE of the impact on overcrowding and draining of funds in schools due to excess immigration.
However, I understand that the communist equalization principle that would have all countries equally poor objects to border enforcement by countries that subsidize social services as discrimination. I am therefore not surprised that you feel the way you do. I disagree with you, however.

The whole thing is a big publicity stunt to try to get another Bush sibling into the white house. If Bush really meant to stop terrorism he would have hit just Iraq. Instead he tried to finish his daddy's war with Saddam.

Education and "social services" are not part of the mandate of congress found in the constitution. I say cut out education and social programs entirely forever from the fed budget. It should be a state issue.

This is what you get when you have one party's dominance, it takes away the checks and balance to the system. You have a repuglican war lord and a repuglican rubber stamp congress, I think that their priority's are all screwed up, when you spend more money in Iraq then you do in America for the American people something is damn wrong.

President Bush has increased spending on education, environment, social programs, Medicaid and drug plans.
The war in Iraq is necessary until the job is completed.
These monies come from different budgets, therefore, apples and oranges....
