Generally speaking when your urine is dark you either have a UTI or are dehydrated, although this isn't always true. Certain vitamins can give your urine a dark appearance also. The clearer your urine the fewer toxins/wastes being excreted. This could be due to drinking tons of water (not too much, can kill you if you drink too much) or just not having many toxins/wastes to eliminate from your body.

when your urine is dark it means that you are not properly hydrated. Your bladder has held it in too long without being properly rinsed out. If you notice that when you drink a beer or two the first time it's really dark, the beer is cleaning out your kidneys and bladder. The second one and the third, etc.etc. are a lot clearer and is ridding your body of all the poisions in your kidneys, bladder, etc. Water will do the same thing but it takes more water to have the same effect...

Your urine is basically water and body soluable wastes. The more water the lighter the color. Dark urine is not so much a sign of bad health as poor hydration. Drink more water.

Dark and smelly urine usually means you are dehydrated. Just try to drink 8-10 glasses a day and you will be fine. And don't mix the water with gin or vodka. LOL!

Clear indicates that you're drinking a good quantity of watter, so your toxins are being expulsed constantly so they don't accumulate.
So the best hue is clear.

The lighter the color the more water your system is getting. If it is dark, then you need more water. Also, if it has a strong odor, than you aren't getting enough fluids.
So drink more water if it is dark.
