Generally speaking when your urine is dark you either have a UTI or are dehydrated, although this isn't always true. Certain vitamins can give your urine a dark appearance also. The clearer your urine the fewer toxins/wastes being excreted. This could be due to drinking tons of water (not too much, can kill you if you drink too much) or just not having many toxins/wastes to eliminate from your body.

when your urine is dark it means that you are not properly hydrated. Your bladder has held it in too long without being properly rinsed out. If you notice that when you drink a beer or two the first time it's really dark, the beer is cleaning out your kidneys and bladder.
