Check to see if it's using your connection as an UltraPeer connection.
If it is, your connections panel will have loads of lines.
Five is as many as there should ever reasonably be.
Go to Tools, then Options in the limewire program and disable UltraPeer. Leave that to people with superfast connections. Most of us don't have enough capacity to cope with it.

I no longer use Limewire or other download sites. As much fun as it was to make a bunch of " Favourites" disks, the damage it was doing to my computer started to cost some serious change. Just pay the .99 on MSN Music I find the sound quality to be better anyways.

right this is the technological know-how-fictiony, paranoid answer: some web content are wealthy in secret agent ware (no longer holding any specific names right here) no longer the financial variety of secret agent ware, the federal, state investigative varieties. The code written to music P2P track/movie downloaders is extremely disruptive and cumbersome. it rather is a variety of P2P community in itself that makes use of your computing gadget to bounce your guy or woman data decrease back to them like it rather is advance into their very own inner maximum broadcasting station. * Bidirectional site visitors slows down your laptop. * consistent pinging impacts velocity. * Viruses can drench it in digital molasses * Downloads sluggish it down. * using your computing gadget on a P2P community makes it slowmo. * combating popups--has a s l o w i n g e f f e c t.* Limewire, Winamp are unfastened, good. whilst advance into the final time you got something unfastened? unfastened on the information superhighway, potential unfastened to do stuff on your computing gadget.
