A 14 year old person, should get between 8 and 10 hours of continuous sleep, each night. Along with a fruit and a high fibre diet, will not only be healthy for the brain but also the body.

You will get a bunch of different answers, but really it is as many as needed as an individual. Sleep does a body good, and is a healing process that keeps a person healthy. Standard answer will likely be 8 hours.
If sleeping too much, there may be reasons that should be addressed...such as boredom, teenage depression, or maybe just a lazy streak they should grow out of.
If still worried for any reason, may be time for a physical check-up to make sure nothing health related is a factor.
Good luck.

At least 8, but more is fine. Teenagers get a bad rep for being lazy, but in truth, their bodies are changing and they may need more sleep than adults. Sleep is restorative and regenerative for the body, it is essential for health. 10 hours of sleep is neither unusual nor damaging to a teenager.
