Virtual memory and disk space are two completely different things. Virtual memory is how much your computer can run at one time. If your virtual memory is low, then you're running too many applications at once. Disk space is how much data your computer can store as a whole. Emptying you're recycle bin will give you more disk space, but probably not that much.

Other ways to increase your free disk space are to uninstall things you don't need, defragment your disk, and run disk cleaner.

To uninstall things you don't need, go to start, control panel, and remove/change programs. Just click the remove button to get rid of things you don't use.

To defragment you're disk, go to start, all programs, accesories, system tools, and click disk defragmentor. This will basically "clean up" your hard drive.

Finally, go to system tools again, but click Disk Cleanup again.

There's more you can do, but these are good ways to start. Good luck!

If I'm understanding your question correctly than NO disk space and memory space are different. Putting stuff in your recycling bin and then deleting out of there will free up "disk space" or betterly known as your harddrive. Memory clears itself out in two different situations...one being when you shut your computer off (this is why restarting helps if your computer is running slow) and when your ram (memory) gets new information of of your hard drive (disk space).

Disk space refers to Secondary memory...While the primary memory is ur RAM...RAM is usually refered to as memory... and will be of size 64MB,128MB,256MB,512MB or 1GB... The RAM plays an important role in the speed of ur computer...
If u want to increase the speed of ur computer increase ur RAM...

The secondary memory(disk memory) is also needed for something called "Swap file" that will be used by the operating system for virtual memory... so some amount of free space must be left in ur hard disk also... especially in the drive which has ur operating system(this is usually C drive)...
If u have something that u wont need in the future in the trash then u can delete it...

Disk space is a form of memory space but you are probably meaning RAM memory space. Deleting files will not free up RAM space, only adding more RAM or running less programs will do that.
