Medications can help make them go away faster. The most effective are usually oral medications such as Acyclovir, Valtrex, or Famvir. To be the most effective you have to take them when you first feel a tingle / pain in the lip before the sores start.
Topical medications do exist, and one Abreva is over the counter, but they don't seem to be as effective for moderate to severe outbreaks as the prescription oral medications.
Also, Fever Blisters / Cold Sores are caused by a viral infection. Herpes Simplex Virus type 1 usually. This virus lives in the nerves that supply the innervation to the area you feel the pain from the "fever blister". Unfortunately as of now there is no way to make this virus go away, and it will live with you for the rest of your life. No one knows how many future outbreaks you may have, but some triggers are known: Sunlight, Wind, Stress, Infections etc.

I do not believe these go away fast without severe measures like . . . You mean the bumps? Or an genuine blister? The bumps don't go away rapid, if it's an exact blister, just pop it with a needle or ignore it and it is going to go away in every week. After a day or so that you get used to the little bumps and omit they are there except you consider around for them (this applies to a blister too). I wouldn't fear about it though, your physique will get rid of it on it can be possess.

They are caused by the herpes simplex virus if it's really that. The virus stays in your system and the blisters will pop out on occasion, such as if your immune system is weak, for whatever the reason may be.
You can buy over the counter medication...ask a pharmacist for a recommendation. They usually go away in a few days but can be painful and unsightly. Also, be advised that they can be contagious. Be careful.

Time. You can shorten the duration with a prescription like Zovirax, or use some over the counter creams like Herpacin or Carmex. Unfortunately there is no "cure" for fever blisters and only with time will they clear up.
