There are 7 states with no income taxes. Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington and Wyoming. Two others, New Hampshire and Tennessee, tax only dividend and interest income.

For example, CA has very low property tax rates, but homes are so expensive, tax bills of $12K and more per year are normal. However, they also cap seniors who are home owners from increases.
