The explanation is really simple, really!

Okay, take a look at the mystic ball chart right now. Take a look at the numbers 0, 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, and 81. They are all the same symbol, right? And they are all multiples of 9! Now, before doing anything, just click on the mystic ball. You'll notice that the symbol that pops up is the same symbol that the numbers mentioned above show. Click on the blue link to try it all again. You should get another sheet with different symbols. Now, look at the very same numbers that you looked at before. They all share the same symbol, but now it is a different one, right?

This is the trick. No matter what number you choose from 0 to 99, the final answer will always be a multiple of 9. Try it out yourself! Go through each number and figure out what the final number of each number would be. Figure out what the final symbol would be, too. You will see that no matter what number you choose, the same symbol will keep popping up.

If you want the equation, it would be 10a + b - (a+b). 'a' represents the first digit of the number you chose, and 'b' represents the second digit of the number you chose. '10a + b' represents the number as a whole (for example, let's choose the number 32. a = 3, b = 2. 10(3) + 2 = 32. Make sense?). the '- (a+b)' part represents the time when you add the digits together and subtract it from the original number to get your final answer. After reducing the equation, you get 9a, which is why the answers all come out to be a multiple of 9.

Hopefully this makes sense!

The answer will always be a multiple of 9, and so all multiples of 9 in the chart have the same symbol. To show it mathematically, consider the 2-digit number whose digits are a and b...

Original number: 10a + b
Add the digits and subtract: 10a + b - (a + b) = 9a

do no longer worry approximately it. as quickly as I took algebra, my type became basically before the sport, so my instructor continually predicted us to comprehend it without a lot clarification. in case you like help, there are a number of good web pages you will discover by google. yet to respond to you greater truly: 3x + 3 = 2(x - 3) What you go with for to do is save your equation balanced on an identical time as attempting to sparkling up for x. For this one, i might initiate by dividing the two factors by 2: (3x)/2 + 3/2 = (x - 3) Then, subtract 3/2 from the two factors(while subtracting, make particular to no longer combine in comparison to words. as an occasion, do no longer subtract 3/2 from x): (3x)/2 = x - 9/2 Subtract x from the two factors: x/2 = -9/2 Now, you go with for x to be in it is easiest variety, so which you multiply the two factors by 2: x = -9 6x - 2 = 2(2x + 4) Divide the two factors by 2: 3x - a million = 2x + 4 Subtract 2x from the two factors: x - a million = 4 upload a million to the two factors: x = 5

Wow! This thing actually works. If I do the digit adding and subtraction like it says it always gets the symbol (I did it three times), but if I just randomly stare at a symbol it won't pick the right one. Hmm ... this has me totally stumped at the moment. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Everyone else -- DO try this! Wonderfully entertaining. (I'm sure when the answer is revealed I'll feel like an idiot.)

stellarfarfly & ag_iitkgp are both correct with their calculations.

The reason why you get different figures everytime you try is,
the moment you press the "Click Here to try again" button, the figures reassemble.

Nice trick. Gave me a shock, in the beginning.
I will certainly try on my friends.

Take a number ab

So 10a+b - (a+b) = 9a

Now look at the multiples of 9,

9,18,27,36,54,63,72,81,90,99

They are the same symbol
