My husband recently began thinking about getting circumcised. Oddly enough i've never been with a circumcised man and didn't really know how to respond when he told me he was thinking about having it done? Is it really any different at all? Has anyone been in a similar situation? Well any answers/advice would help really.

It is quite different, yes.

He will lose about 15 square inches of skin, tens of thousands of nerves, and several feet of blood vessels. He will lose the most responsive part of his body, comparable to the female clitoris. He will lose the slack in his skin that makes sexual activity comfortable. He will lose glands that produce antivirals and antibacterials that protect YOU from infection. He will lose some length and circumfrence. He could have abnormal curvature, or an erection that leans seriously to one direction instead of pointing straight parallel to the floor, due to the skin not being uniformly tight. He could end up with his glans mounted sideways, if it's inadvertantly twisted before the remaining pieces of skin are stitched back together.

His erections may become tight enough to be painful for a while, up to a year. His glans will become an external organ, which will make it paler in color, and nerve endings there will die due to constant exposure. It will become less sensitive with a sort of callous over the surface. For the first year or so, he will probably want to cover the glans with cloth or a type of tape, to protect it from his underwear or boxers, and to protect it from the shower water hitting it, because both are incredibly painful. He will become more prone to erectile dysfunction, particularly as he hits age 45 or so. He will lose important nerves and structures that produce fluids to keep his reproductive system healthy and keep infection out.

You will lose the gliding-skin action that makes it more comfortable for you, and makes you more able to achieve orgasm through sexual intercourse alone.

My question would be, why now? If you're happy with him, why change? My suspicious nature wonders if maybe he's thinking of another woman, and wanting to make this transformation for her. Men go through all kinds of changes when they become attracted outside of the marriage, like buy sporty new cars, get in shape, dye their hair, buy a new wardrobe. I've never heard it extend to circumcision, but it's a possibility. Has he changed in other ways?

If this is a recent wish, it's to increase pleasure. For the male, it exposes more sensitive areas, and as is tighter, increases friction. That would make sex shorter and possibly less pleasureful for you. I wouldn't recommend it. It also limits the penis's ability to fully extend, and can take up to an inch off. If you don't want him to, just tell him that tasty tidbit.

No difference, actually it would be better for him if he was hygienically.
