I'm learning piano next week and I was wondering if there's any basic stuff that I should know, like chords and reading music. Gladly appreciate it.

If you are taking a beginner piano course, then you shouldn't have to worry too much because they should teach you all the basics. However, it will help very much if you pick up a scale book or a basic theory book to learn a bit about reading music, chords, keys, etc...

Don't worry! Your teacher should teach you how to read and basic music theory gradually, bit by bit.

Certainly chords, scales and modes, progressions, sight reading, rhythm, knowing notation and key signatures all play a part. You have to take it all a little bit at a time.
