policy is important, but don't let it blind you to what matters. just do what you do and don't worry about them.

I understand your frustration. When you work in a field such as this, and you have a heart. It's hard not to let the lack of caring affect you. In time it will manifest itself as depression, mood swings, sadness and short temperedness. I know. I used to be a charge nurse in a nursing home. After two years of butting heads with superiors over care, or lack there of. I had to quit. It was affecting my every day life. I couldn't make a difference like I needed to. I do private duty now, it's much more rewarding. The patients aren't neglected because of policy. I hope this helps!

You should ask yourself a couple of questions--- Is it more important to have good coworkers? or is it more important to help people? If your work is appreciated by your patients and you feel accomplished at the end of the day- don't sweat the small stuff (like bickering by coworkers). If you feel you can make a bigger difference somewhere else, then look. But remember that you don't go to work for everyone else. You want a job that is rewarding for you (both financially to pay the bills and emotionally to help the clients/patients). Good luck!

I wouldn't quit, no way.................
you have policies and procedures to follow in the event of this happening !
list and record all of your grievances
go up the hierarchy of management
get a union rep
nail the f***ers, good and proper
and then have time off for work-related stress and burnout !
