Both countries have very good engineering schools.
Many that chose to study aborad do not do so because the other country has better schools, but do so for the experience.
If your main concern is a good school then you can find one in either India or the US.
If you want the experience I suggest finding a quality program in your non-native country.
If you are from India may I suggest the University of South Alabama. It is a relatively inexpensive university with a solid engineering program. Plus they have a large Indian student population.

I really wonder if everyone who said the US is better in engineering has actually done a research an got an objective opinion, or just as always think the US is the best in everything.....
Yes, the best in getting fat engineering is found in the US. Turning humans into pigs, without any genetic intervention.

What kind of engineering? IIT in india is one of the best in the worlds for computer engineering but it's also known for "brain drain" so be prepared. But most graduates have good prospects and have a good career in the world. The best colleges (because of billions of dollars in funding from govt. and private companies) are in the united states with top of the lines technologies and programs. Number one in my list is Massachussette institute of technology (MIT). I am planning to study linguistics there myself. It get the most funding for research in all kind of engineerings from robotics to aerospace and computer. NASA and NCAS have affiliations with it. But, the admission criteria is just so exhaustive and you need to have a brilliant report card (school transcript) with good recommendations. Next on my list is Univ. of california and then harvard. Both are classical brand names in education but a reputable company would chose MIT from the rest. Good luck!
P.S ever tried england, france or denmark. They are way up there too!

In simple terms:
The Indians are a lot less expensive.
The Americans have a stronger infrastructure
The best for quality and ideas are the Israelis
ALL are miles ahead of the Europeans, a very poor fourth.

dear frnd, do not think that US is always the best. you can do ur engineering through IIT, CBSE etc between the intelligent ones. if u r interested in wasting ur money , u can go to US. but, remember that they only come to india to take our best ones as they do not have good engineers there. rest is up to u.

USA: The Hoover Dam, the interstate highway system, Apollo missions putting men on the moon, etc. Must be a rhetorical question.
