From my personal experience, a MP3 file, or, in case of the IPod AAC file, the average song takes up about 5 MB each. SO ... 1 GB = about 200 songs. By extension, 2 GB ~ 400 songs. So you do the math. How many songs do you have that you NEED?
Instead of going with the proprietary IPod interface, check on the Internet for MP3 player that are CHEAPER. A good brandname is Creative. Others are cheaper. Even Creative is cheaper than Apple's IPod.

You might as well save your money and just get a 1GB. I read recently that 90% of people with ipods only use halve of its memory. But if you really want 2000 songs go for the 2GB

Depends on how much music or other things you want to put on it. You could go with the 1 if you can limit your favorites to the amount that will fit it. If you believe that you will need more space due to a larger amount of music wanted then go with the 2gb.

whoever told you, you will fill the 1GB really fast, is right. i filled my 2GB in no time. but seriously, think about 500 songs, would you listen to them all during this trip... besides, you would be able to load and reload songs into you ipod. think about 500 songs, this trip..needed?

1GB fills up pretty quickly, especially if you really like music. Technically you can fill a little bit more if you downgrade the quality of all your music files - but if you really love music that's probably not a good option...

it depends on how many songs (or videos) you're
planning to upload in your iPOD. another factor is
money. if you have enough for a 2GB, knock yourself
out! Ã
