Been there. I am a disabled adult who is unable to find work, and sometimes social outlets. I asked Psychologists and so called experts. They say that when people are around the disabled, it reminds them of their own frailty and shows them that something bad could happen to them too. So they shun the disabled person. I have been through a lot of it.
Try to be supportive. (My dad pays people at church to come around some.) it gives me a friend or 2 to hang out with, but I am not sure in the long run that it does any good, because I know about it and it has destroyed my self-confidence.

Humor is often the best medicine. If she is in braces she can make jokes about people in wheel chairs or that kid with hand-me down metal legs. Retards are an easy target you can make fun of them to their faces and all they can do is beep at you. Even poking fun at ones self is effective. She can try and river dance while the other kids throw coins at her or stick dollars to her legs with magnets. In a few years she can give up the goods to anyone willing to lubricate her joints that's always a sure fire way to increase ones popularity.

you're good, and so is he. In an appropriate international we'd have greater conventional stalls and greater handicapped stalls and there may be stricter regulations because of the fact anybody must be accommodated in any respect situations without waiting. regrettably we've not got those liberties, so each from time to time the disabled ought to apply the standard stalls and each from time to time the in a position bodied ought to apply the handicapped stalls. each from time to time one has no selection yet to attend on the different because of the lack of the two varieties of stalls. it rather is a sucky equipment yet that's merely the way issues are. it is not your fault and as you pronounced, he wasn't there on the time you went in (so which you had the final to apply it). If he have been then you certainly ought to've permit him pass in first and waited on a conventional stall. So in a feeling you're the two good, handicapped stalls must be for the handicapped purely, yet that may no longer achievable given the lack of style of the two stall kinds.

Some people are just plain mean. I guess they think they are so perfect, that anyone with an imperfection isn't as good as they are. Let me tell you, The disabled work harder at what they do, than these other people can imagine. If these persons would bother to get to know them, they would see that they aren't alien. It's so sad that ugly people are in our society. Tell your daughter to hold her head high. She should not let these ignorant people bother her. I am wishing you the best.

Fear of the unknown. Often people that have disabilities become easy targets for the ignorance of others. Not that it helps a teen, but we are all put on this earth to develop a skill that will make us stronger, wiser, more resilient in the next life. It may be her opportunity to learn compassion or patience before she moves on to something else.

I think that people can be cruel to others because some people have no heart and others do it because it isn't their problem ! I think people shy away from people with disabilities is because people either don't understand them or just think they are better and want normal friends. I think that is sort of mean but as they say life can be a beotch !

People are afraid of what is different.
I remember a movie with Kristy McNichol, she wore a leg brace and removed it then put a cast on instead for a weekend at a ski resort.
She met a guy and told him she fell skiing.
Doing this made people see her for who she really was.

You'll find that there's a lot of shallow, stupid people out there in life, and anyone that's got a disability is fair game...some people never quite 'grow up'....tell her not to cry, though, she may have leg braces, but they're retards...so it works out LOL

Usually people like that are selfish, insecure, thoughtless and are so me me me.
It is difficult finding and making genuine friendships, whether people are disabled or not. Best way to make lasting friendships though is to have interests first that we share in common with them.
Anyone with a heart and who is genuine will open their hearts to anyone out there, without judging them.
