Most cities with 2 teams alternate their homestands so that one travels while the other is at home...but itsn't a hard fast rule and sometimes they're at home at the same time..

Of course they do, it's called interleague play. White Sox won 2 out of 3 again this year. On other occasions, say if the Cubs were making up a rain out date they have on occasion played separately but both in Chicago. I saw a Cubs day game at Wrigley and that evening saw the Sox at old Comiskey when I was a kid.

I'm sure if it did happen,
The Cubs would play during the day and The White Sox at night.
That way it would not be 2 teams at home playing at the same time.

yes both play at home on the same day, and what is really bad is when the Bears are at Soldier field, I remember it happening and my goodness, Public transportation was of no help.
They are playing this weekend (june 30-July2)at Wrigley and it is the first weekend of the Taste it opens friday, thank goodness the Cubs will be out of town for the fireworks tuesday night, even though the sox are home with a night game what were they thinking :-(

No if one team play at the same location then the other team is playing on the road but it does not really make sense if two teams that play in the city is on the road if their at the other side of town.

It probably happens on occasion but in general one team is in town and one is away (like in New York with the Yanks and the Mets)

Not on a regular basis, but yes it does happen. Even when they're not playing each other.
