Why don't you just add the international plan on your cingular account ?
I went to germany in march and did that.

I think you need a SIM card to work with your Cingular phone.

But first, you have to get Cingular to unlock your phone so you can use another SIM.

T-Mobile was great about unlocking my phone when I went to the Phils. Then I just buy a SIM there and slip it in. Voila !!

Yeah, you can't just swap out your sim card - it's not that easy. Most of Europe uses a GSM network, which isn't compatible with US phones. Good luck with getting Cingular to unlock the phone - hope that works for you.

You can get Cingular to change you to international access, just call their customer service and tell them the country (or countries, if you go to more than one). It's easy and only takes about 5 minutes. But do it before you leave here.

I don't know much about cingular, i used verizon while i was living in the U.S. but prepaid phone bundles are very inexpensive in Germany and much more hassle-free than in the United States. this way you can be reached in germany and make phone calls (the cheapest I've found so far 7am to 8pm 0.99 Euro and 8pm to 7am 0.69 Euro per minute @ moxmobil)
I hope I was able to help

You need a tri-band phone. Should be available in your home country.Ask you network provider if the SIM will work abroad.
