The Bahamas are closed to Florida state residents? What happened?
As far as a passport, if their border is closed, it won't matter. However, if you mean that the bahamas are *close* to Florida, then the US Dept of State website says that you *do* need a passport or proof of US citizenship with a photo ID.
"BERMUDA - Passport (or proof of U.S. citizenship with photo ID) and onward/return ticket required for tourist stay of up to 3 months. Departure tax of $10 is paid at airport. For more information, consult the British Embassy (202/588-7800). Internet: http://www.immigration.gov.bm "

To cross the Canadian or Mexico border from the U.S when I went I just needed a birth certificate and a valid i.d. like a driver's license. But with security today a passport along with the other two would be best. Here's site that you should print the information on and take with you for emergencies and information on traveling in the Bahamas.

No. The Bahamas is an independent country. If you are traveling before January 1, 2007, you will not need a passport. Your Birth Certificate & driver's liscence will do.

no you don't. the cruise line will have you fill out a short form, it's no big deal.
went there a couple of years ago. there you can rent a scooter for $40 a day or less and go cruising around the island some. or go to a hotel and rent jet skis. the cruise line doesn't tell you everything you can do, only what they're associated with.
A stamp on a passport might make for a cool souvenir though.
