STRENGTHS:
-Many people thinking together will get great ideas
-More can be done with more people doing jobs
-More power: authorities will listen to groups more than indaviduals
-Make new friends in groups
-Learn and get new ideas from different people
-You will be more safe because your group members will be protecting each other
WEAKNESSES:
-A big group will get attention and may be a target to people who do not agree with the group's ideas
-Your voice might not be heard and the majority of the people in the group might vote for something you don't agree with
-With a bad leader, the group will not be organized and therefore will take times to finish tasks and function as a group
-Sometimes group work is divided unevenly: some people do all the work and other don't do anything. This often happens in school when the students that study hard I relied on to do all the work for the group.

I don't know what kind of assignment this is, however In a psychology course I once learned that there is a thing called "group mentality" people behave differently when they are part of a group, they may be bolder ( which is a strength) or do something out of character for themselves (I consider this a weakness)

since you do not clarify what group you mean here, i would like to clarify what group mean to me here before i start to draw my comment here.
a group for me is a temporary organization or team formed to work on a single defined task or activity.
strenghts of grouping
- more innovative ideas are generated
- big project can be separated to smaller task and does by different individual
- combination of different skill by individuals create synergy
weakness of grouping
- decision take longer time
- need good bonding among group members to create effective group work
- effective communication is needed to manage the group

Well, it's true that two heads are better than one but, on the other hand, you may feel like repressing yourself at times-in the sense that you can't always do what you want as when you're by yourself.
