I don't know about medicine. But I have had good luck with gargling warm saltwater, chloraseptic, and sucking on ice for dealing with the discomfort associated with a sore throat--this will not get rid of the problem though.

Gargle with warm salt water. Also there's these cough drops with antiseptic in them...Cepacol I believe, they numb your throat.

Get lots of rest too.

I had to go through mono on top of strep back when I was 15. It's hell, I know. :(

I don't know what mono is. But for sorethroats the best medicine is glycerene or honey to ease the dryness.

I just got over mono... I was on steriods, (Prednizone) and Cefprozil. the combination worked extremely well, I was back to 100% in about a week

when i had it i got the same stuff as the "Trey" person did..it worked pretty well for me also
