and it has been close to a year sense it has been over. but i'm in texas she's in colorado. she filed for the divorce so i had to get a lawyer in colorado . yadda yadda. now that's it said and done
can i get a lawyer here in texas . i would like to take her back to court . i pay child support but she won't let me see or talk to the kids. or will i still have to get a lawyer in colorado?

first thing to do: CELEBRATE. Do your HAPPY DANCE and be HAPPY that your ex is finally out of your life. We don't need selfish people in our lives and she sounds like one of them.

Yes, you have to get a lawyer in that state. An out of state lawyer wouldn't know the specific rules and regulations for that state. There is no way around it, call the court house in the county in which she filed and they can recommend a good lawyer in that area.

When I got my divorce the judge told me even if my ex didn't pay I can't deny my ex from seeing our kid and he would throw me in jail, you will have to get a lawyer in Colorado try finding a lawyer who is a expert in fathers right

Welcome to the club. What made you think things would get better after the divorce? Best thing is to move two doors away from her in Colorado and file for joint custody. Any other way and y ou can just kiss your kids goodbye, she will brainwash them into thinking you are the deadbeat, when reality she is being the selfish jerk. It's all about her.

Did you not cover custody in your divorce? If you have visitation rights and she is not allowing you to see the kids, you can file a Motion for Contempt of court.

In my state once a divorce is decided it cannot be changed for three years. After three years, then custody and child support can be changed.
