If you are only planning on going to Graceland, you won't see too many Southerners or Memphians there anyway. I'd fear more for my life if I got caught in that part of town after dark because it's not in the best area.

In all seriousness, you'll be fine. If you want to go to a bar, check out the Midtown scene...lots of gay bars in that area. Pick up a Memphis Flyer, they're free and available most everywhere for a listing of particular places to go.

No you should not be worred. Just because Memphis maybe the south (to you) that does not mean that everyone there spits tobacco and wears cowboy boots and drives beat up trucks with the confederate flag flying.
Memphis is very cool.
Beal St is awesome (bars)

Why? Do you have the words I am gay tattooed to your forehead?
As long as you are polite you will not have any more trouble than any other non southerner. We basically give you northerners a wide enough birth anyway because we are afraid you will pull a knife or a gun on us anyway.
