The way to a great pitching staff has always been development of the young players. The lack thereof is the reason why you see the same team names in the Cellar.

You can go out and buy a pitching staff with some regularity and should be able to put together a pretty good staff. I have never been a proponent of that as all it does is use cash.

OK, being an old man of fifty and haveing been a red sox fan for the last 45 years, I think they are making a good choice for the coming years, but not this year. I think this year they will come in second with a fade in August and September and not make the playoffs.

Agreed, Theo Epstien is a genious. He knows what he's doing. Not only are they getting ready to have a fantastic pitching staff in following years, but these rookies are unseen by most hitters and that's why their getting so many strikeouts. Papellbon is proof that a rookie can get along just fine againt veterans. Go Red Sox

The Sox are making many correct moves right now. They are giving their youngsters the most responsibility that they can handle and they are still reamianing completely competitive. All the moves they are making right now are going to pay of for years to come (if not a decade).

So far their starting rotation has been helped by the influx of the young guns. The bullpen will start to come around when Tito starts to utilize the kids in the correct role. Hansen, Delcarmen, need to be used more often, instead of seanez, and tavarez.
