My husband says that if my clothes are not soaking wet after I go for a run, it means that I have not hydrated well enough. It seems to me that the point of sweating is for the sweat to evaporate to cool my body, therefore if the sweat is actually evaporating the way it should, maybe my clothing wouldn't be soaked, as he thinks it should be. I am just curious about this. I feel like I drink enough water before I run...I never get light headed or anything. Does anyone know scientifically how this works?

It's probably the humidity level. you "seem" to sweat more when the humidity is high because water cannot evaporate into the atmosphere. when the humidity is low your sweat evaporates quickly, leading you to belive that you didn't work hard enough.

Here's what doctors and the military use as a guide line for hydration. When you pee, if it's not clear, then you need to drink more water.

A good rule is to drink one gallon of water per day. It's sounds like a lot, but if you think about it, you consume, coffee, cokes, juice, or anything other than what the body needs, you will pee yellow, showing lack of hydration.

I would say that perhaps your body doesn't need to rid itself of extra salts or water. I don't sweat much when i work out, but do consume a large amount of water. Perhaps also, your body isn't really heating up. Therefore your exocrine system doesnt have to work so hard to cool you down.

Physiologically it comes down to how much ADH (anti-diuretic hormone) that and individual produces. This is why different people sweat in different ways. The pathway in the brain is the same, but the amount they sweat is different.

Different people sweat different amounts. If you feel you are drinking enough and feel normal afterwards, then you are fine. No one knows your body better than you! And yes it is the Anti-diuretic.
