I'm two weeks delayed and my urine and blood tests came out negative. I'm not surprised about this because this has happened to me during my first pregnancy. I found out that I was pregnant when I was almost 5 months preggy thru an ultrasound. I shared this with my doctor (he is not my doctor w/ my first child) and he is doing a blood retest next week. If it turns out negative, he will schedule me for an ultrasound...but my concern is, don't you think it's too early to have an ultrasound when I would only be on the 14th day of my missed period? I want to make sure that I will start an early prenatal care. Thank God my first child came out normal and healthy after not having prenatal care for 5 months. Can someone share any experience about this? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

You most likely will not be able to see a pregnancy by ultrasound until around the 5th or 6th week, and at that point, you may only see a gestational sac and a yolk sac. retake the blood test, which should be your first indicator before having an ultrasound.

If you're trying to maintain good prenatal care, start taking vitamins, stop smoking and drinking (if you do) and eat well. Make your appointments and follow through with them. Early OB ultrasounds don't really measure anything other than the length of the embryo from top of the head to the rump, and assessing the heart rate, both of which arae not routinely done at most hospitals unless there is some indicator to do so.

Good luck to you!

I am living in Germany rght now and here they do an ultrasound every visit. It's great!!! Anyway, I knew i was pregnant really early)Itook the test 10 days after having sex), I went in at 5 weeks and they saw it on the ultrasound. Don't get all excited though it just looks like a dot that early. I think you sould be able to see something.

Its not too early to have an ultrasound. When my wife's period was delayed for a week. We went to the doctor for a pregnency test when the urine test came up blank, (maybe it was a bad pregnancy kit). So the doctor urged my wife for an ultrasound, and soon enough we found out that she is pregnant. She is expecting to give birth this coming July. Hope this answers your question.

The same thing happened to me with my second child! I kept telling the doctors I was pregnant but they didn't believe it. It's probably not too early to get an ultrasound they can see things on ultrasound very early! It's better sooner anyway so you can get the prenatal care you need!

It does sound early to me, but if the doctor feels that you should have a u/s then have it done. If you don't want one done that early, tell him no & ask for repeat blood work for at least two weeks & if you are still negative after those two weeks, then go get the u/s.
