No. You can only collect benefits when you are "unemployed" not merely working part time. And even then, there are strict criteria which must be met in order to receive benefits.

In NY as long as you have worked full time for 26 weeks you can collect benefits. Contact your unemployment office which should be in the phone book.

Ok first of all each states laws are different. You must also have worked enough to have a valid claim. There are several different options for this, so you don't know till you apply. You don't say whether or not you originally did work more hours. There is something with UI where when your hours are cut, due to lack of work, you may collect PARTIAL benefits. It all depends on how much your UI claim is worth, if your hours have been cut, how many hours have been cut,and if its due to lack of work. Again, each state is different, so the only way you know is if you file a claim. I worked for the nj ui for many years.

Why don't you get a full-time job and stop trying to claim benefits that were meant for people who have been laid off or CAN'T find work? You want money handed to you when you are perfectly capable of working? What's wrong with this picture? If you are determined to suck off the government tit, contact your state unemployment office, fill out the forms, and see if they accept you. As f***ed up as our government programs are, they probably will.

How long have you been working. I know in Illinois it depends on how many quarters during a given year you've worked and the hours you've worked.
If you've worked at least three quarters even at part-time, you still have earned some benefits.

Why would you be able to colect unemployment, if you are employed? Get a new job that gives enough hours, get a second job, or cut back on some luxery items.
