HI, im going to be going camping on Aug. 4-7 and my perid is scheduled to start on the 4 th of aug. my doctor gave me the pill to delay my period and take it for 2 months...(im not currently on it). i only really want to take the pill for one month instead of two months. i got my period on the 8th of june and i was thinking that if i dont start the pill right after my period but instead start it on the 25th of june so that in 21 days when i do have my period, it would be the 15th of july and even if my period moves up a couple pf days in august. it still would not occur during my trip. okay that is a little complicated. but basically is it safe to start the pill whenever instead of on the last day of my period? any additional advice would be great. thanks

Girl, girl, girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is some thing you don't know about the periods. Only a few lucky girls like you have regular periods like you do. Most girls have very irregular period. Some girls are late by a few months (as much as six months). Very few girls have the peiod in the minimum duration theoretically required. So why are you messing up your period with pills. That can ruin your kidneys, ruin your period. Let me tell you how many kinds of pills I take. I take Toprol XL, Norvasc, clonodine, for high blood pressure, lipitore for high cholestral, flowmax and prescor for prostate problems, neurontin for hydrocephalus, two blood thiners, Zentac for heartburn, colchicin for gout. One of my kidneys has cist and there are no pills for that. My rheumatoid arthritis is in remission. But there are no medicines I can take for that. I've taken Indocin, Cortisine, Steroids for very long time.

And you are worried about your period. Be happy you are not menopausing. Some girls, who smoke, become menopause prone. That means they develop symptoms mimicking menopause.

So if you have to choose between vacation or a period choose a period. Believe me.

I would not do it personally, if u dont take it at the correct time then you are messing with your bodys timing. (i have been the pill for 3 yrs) BUt just to warn you even though you try to delay or skip it, you may still get your period. i triedto skip once because i was also away on vacation. it delayed it for two days but my body still had a period. just try to work around it and chance it, or take the pills how the doctor says so.. it takes your body 3 months to get used the pill anyway , so you never know, you may end up lucky

If you do not start the pills at the right time your body may have your period when it usually does.
You can delay periods or not have them at all for months but you have to take the pills at the right time.
Most times when you start doing this you will have at least spotting when you are supposed to have your period.
I have taken pills for a long time and I hardley ever have a period. Maybe once evey six months I have to use something for it.
But by starting the pills mid cycle it will most lkely not delay your period.

I really don't reccomend you to take anything to delay your period the risk is too great. You can get blood clots or a stroke. I think you should just go through with your period during camp your period is not as worse as the risks you are willing to take.

If your doctor said you should wait, then you should wait. You should always follow your doctor's instructions when taking prescription medication.
