I had excellent results with a video tape called "Yoga for Weight Loss". Here's a link, but it is available all over:

I also think that the Yoga Journal's Pose Finder is awesome - and for weight loss I would look for poses for the abdomen and the thyroid (to increase metabolism):

I also searched Yoga Journal for weight loss and came up with several articles:

Peace!

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.
I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.
It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.
Get started today!

I did yoga 3 to 5 times a week for over 6 months and lost no weight. I did tighten up and fit into my clothing better. I was more flexible.

For weight loss the best medicine is starvation. But you don't have to positively starve yourswelf. You can eat raw foods because they donot get completely metabolized. Raw vegetables like Cauliflower, lettuce are examples of raw food that you can take to ease your hunger pain. Of cource you can't use dressing. Tomatoes are not the raw food that you can take. Tomato is a fruit. Not vegetables.
Excercises tone the muscles. They are good if you are dieting. They will do you no good if you eat cooked food containing a lot of hydrogenated oils.

Yes yoga can cure obesity. Baba Ramdev is teaching the techniques on TV. He will be teaching in London 15-22 July. Most of the techniques involve breathing pranayama exercises.

Yoga helps maintain flexability and strengthen muscles.
You will change shape some as you tighten the muscles how ever if you main goal is to loose weith you will need to do some cardio work to burn calories.
Yoga is wonderful and I have done it for years to maintain the flexability and keep my legs toned for horse riding. But as a weight loss tool there are better work outs.

Yoga did not help me loose an ounce but what it did do for me was make me more flexible and somehow I feel mentally and physically stronger than I did when I followed a "gym" exercise routine.

Yoga is an excellent option for not only for physical fitness but maintaining mental equilibrium. Please add 'Pranayam' (Breathing Exercises) to YOGA and see how your life changes for good, forever! However, one caveat - you must practice Yoga and Pranayam regularly. There are absolutely no side effects whatsoever. Goodluck to you and everyone else who practices Yoga!
