in the cytoplasm of the cells

Cellular glucose is converted into pyruvic acid by enzymes in the cytoplasm of cells. The pyruvic acid is then converted to acetyl-COA which is transported across the outer mitochondrial membrane. Enzymes inside the mitochondria use the acetyl-COA to power the Kreb'sCycle. This results in the generation of water, carbon dioxide, NADH and FADH2. The hydrogens from the NADH and FADH2 are then transported across the inner mitochondrial membrane resulting in the generation of ATP by enzymes in this membrane.

The cell in has a numer of organelles present,in the cytoplasm and one of them is called Mitochondria.

The mitochondrion(that is singular for mitochondria) is the organelle which has enzymes which drive the 'intracellular respiration'.The organelle is bound by 2 membranes, the interior one of which carries the enzymes.
