I have a tuxedo made out of wool, and I find it is too hot, I can exchange it for a polyester one, but I don't know if it would be cooler.

I dont care if I go back in time, I am trying to get a tux that people wore in the 1800's. So polyester would be ok for me.

I think that would be pretty much a tossup, and would depend more on the weight of the fabric than the content. Polyester, which is of course spun & woven plastic fiber, traps heat and can make you pretty uncomfortable just like wool. But if it's a lighter weight material it might be cooler. My personal preference is always to go for the natural fibers! At least when I am fingering a guy's lapel I would go for the one in wool, even if he's sweating. :)

Polyester is cooler and cheaper to clean as well but if i'm not mistaken polyester was the fashion in the 70's. Don't go backwards or you'll look like Austin Powers

Polyester is cooler because it has really tiny holes in it where air can come through.
