Assume that you have recently finished your first year as mayor of your city. At the end of the year there is $1 Million dollars left in the budget. You must spend this money within your community. What would you spend it on and why? Be more specific? Thanks so much.

I would send the money to the schools. An education is the base to life. The school system should expand on resources. Students these days, espically in high school are sick of learning right out of the book. If there are more physical resources, it makes the learning process so much more fun and that goes for all grade levels. Without an education, kids will grow up and well put it this way, someone needs to take the place as mayor, shouldn't it be a child with a proper and expansive education? Send that $1 million dollars to the school!

I would upgrade our parks to where they are lush and beautiful and pleasant for folks to use. I would create a teen center where kids can go and enjoy SUPERVISED activities. There would be video games, music room, board games, pool, swimming pool, TV, a diner, a skating rink, a homework center where tutors could help and kids could help each other, and a counseling center to help with issues.
This would likely take up the $1 million, because I want fun playground equipment in the parks, flowers and picnic areas, and I want the teen center to be really cool and attractive to kids so they will come there and stay off the streets. It would be a "cool" place gerared towards teens but still with a strong moral message and have information on safe sex and abstinence - detailing the consequences of unsafe ses too early, etc.
It would be supervised by people old enough to be in autority but young enough to be cool and liked by the kids. The programs would give the kids meaningful things to do and encourage community service.

I would apply the entire sum to a governmental grant which would allow community business to apply for money to start business designed for the sole purpose of providing that community with alternative access to DIY renewable energy generators for homes, schools, buildings and vehicles. The grant amount would be $100 000 per successful applicant that showed they had the knowledge, resources and committment to spread renewable energy throughout the community, and governed by a committee of members of the public, paid out of the original sum equal to their salary at their day job, casual voluntary hours. 9 successful applicants in total over a 12 month period, with the last $100 000 going to the overhead of the project.

I would build a combination soccer/baseball complex with restrooms, refreshment stands and secure equipment rooms. If the place was quality, then the complex would draw youth teams from all over for tournaments and play-offs. This activity would be good for local teams and would draw in people from far enough away that they would stay in my cities hotels and motels and eat in the local restaurants. It would draw in more money than the initial $1 million and then I would be able to support other social programs.

I would spend it on what mattered most to the people in the community to boost my chances of re-election. Roads, beautification, park project. But, a million does not go as far as it used to so, you would have to be really choosy in what it was. You can only work with what is given to you but, only you can decide what is most important when you hold all the cards.

I would applied it in education.
I would improve school accesses, transportation and libraries.
So many schools have books that are not proper to read anymore because they're read much.
Also I would apply it in making more student dormitories near universities.
