Go to a local music store and post a flyer. There are a lot of musicians in and out of there obviously.

Try putting up posters that say what kind of band it is and when and where are tryouts. You can try to place these posters in local clubs that you might want to play at some day, bulletin boards, and telephone posts.

Put an ad in the newspaper and hold auditions. This is probably the best way to get serious members to join. Good Luck.....hope you make it real BIG!

Advertise everywhere - local stores, newspapers, clubs, MySpace, etc. Be specific who you are looking for, what you'll be playing and what equipment they need.
Visit gigs at local clubs and see if you can pickup good band members that way.
