And are you, yourself someone else's role model?
And also, can anyone live without a role model, or he/she must have one? What about people who grew up to become criminals, did they have criminal role models, or is it more common that it resulted from a psychological 'injury'?
Sorry if I asked too namy questions, thanks for all answeres.

Barbara Woodhouse! She's been an inspiration to me for many, many years, reason why i went on to study dog psychology because her training was actively based on dog psychology and she achieved so much!
The importance of the role model is that we model on someone's behaviour/achievements, with the hope that we can do as well as they did (do). It is important to us because a marker. There we are at the bottom of the ladder (We don't know about our topic), they are at the top because they have not only learnt before us but also added life experience throughout their practice to better themslves, discover better ways to do their jobs that are better for dogs (In her case) As indeed for those following in her foot steps.
You'll find that people brought up in a family with criminal tendencies learn from their primary education that it's OK to break the law. Children don't know different because of their upbringing so to them ... It's the norm! It's what everyone (Nuclear family) does thus anyone doing doing things differently is not normal. Indeed when a child brought up by such family decide to turn their back on criminal activities, do something else, it results in a family crisis as the child can become ostracised. What am i basing this idea on? Because i've had to deal with two young people who chose to break away from their families criminal lifestyle, go to University and have the life they wanted, one wanted to become a teacher, another one a policeman! Their families reacted very badly to what they deemed to be such a bad choice. I am very happy to add that both these kids made it in their chosen carer.

my mother is my role model, she worked hard her whole life, even after a dipilitating desease took her ability to walk she conitues to work and run a non profit organization. I look up to her in all things and rely on her advice. No I dont think you NEED a role model, but you probably have an unconcious link to some one in your life, you are just not aware of it. No I dont think all criminals had criminal role models, some people choose paths that are destructive or harmful to fill needs within themselves which they are either unwilling or incapable of filling themselves.

I don't have one single role model - I mean I have a few. Mary the mother of Christ is one, she spent her life loving him and loving everyone he loved. She also had a lot of faith. My own mother is another role model to me; she is very unselfish and loves us kids and my dad and has been a good mom and wife for 26 years.
People who turn out bad do so by their own choice. But the way in which you make choices is formed partly by the influences that you look up to especially while you are young.

i don't think you necessarily need to have a role model .
however most people do tend to look up to someone mostly in terms of admiration and also hoping to emulate their characteristics . i personally admire Oprah Winfrey for her courage, determination ,love and interest in ppl in general . i think she is one woman who Rocks !
well i guess most criminals turned out the way they are because they lacked guidance and love . it could have emerged because of "psychological" injury in childhood or adolescence.

hm.................would have to be...osama bin laden....JUST KIDDIN! i bet u were already thinkin of calling the FBI to find me :P
lets c..let me go in order 4rm question..
1- my parents
2- i dont think so..
3- ppl can live without one
4- i think criminals are either ppl that grew up in an enviroment that drove them to be one or they rebelled because of psychological causes (i believe everyone is the way they are because of they way they were brought up to be, because of events in their lives. i guess there's always a deep explanation for wat we do and the way we do them even if we dont think about it)
